Intermediate Grant Writing
Participants will gain the knowledge and the confidence to seek and obtain funding through the most competitive grant processes.
This three day program is designed for people who have experience writing grants. Those who completed Basic Grant Writing are encouraged to enroll in the Intermediate course. Participants will apply the fundamentals of grant writing through development of mini-proposals.
Intermediate Grant Writing covers all the areas explored in Basic Grant Writing, but in more detail. Searching for Funds and developing the Need Statement involve more time on the Internet. Participants also use PCs or laptops to draft goals and objectives, methodologies, evaluation plans, budget plans, continuation plans, introductions, and summaries for their mini-proposals. The proposals are based on actual RFPs, downloaded from the Internet or provided by the instructor. After the session, the instructor critiques the mini-proposals and provides written feedback. The program involves frequent interaction between the instructor and individual participants during the session.
Each session will accommodate 10 trainees, selected on a first come, first served basis. The cost is $625 for each participant ($600 for early registration).
Intermediate Grant Writing provides the actual experience of writing proposals that apply to issues participants are facing on the job. Participants leave the course with a comprehensive and well-organized manual that will guide them through the grant writing process for years to come. The writing skills acquired in Intermediate Grant Writing will give participants the knowledge and the confidence to seek and obtain funding through the most competitive grant processes.
Participants will be able to:
- Describe, in detail, the process for developing a grant proposal
- Readily identify and select sources of funding
- Write a plan for developing a proposal
- Describe, in detail, the key steps in writing each section of a proposal
- Draft a mini-grant proposal, applying the basic rules of grant writing
- Describe strengths and weaknesses of a sample proposal
